THis was a speed painting I did for some practice while I was at work.
I started off with just a lime green background, began adding some light and dark tones (to simulate light coming through the trees and shadows), then added some light trees in the distance. I then began adding some of the mid and forground elements by using darker tones and creating the main bent tree limb and added highlights. Added some texture and floating debris with the spatter brush. About 40 minutes in Painter IX.
